The Circle of Friends Newsletter August 2010

* NEWS & UPDATES *

Greeting friends & fans!

A new genre is circling the industry - New Adult.

Its focus is on stories aimed at late teens to mid-twenty year olds. This genre opens up a whole new world of possibilities. It would also be the genre for The Circle of Friends, as the age of my characters fit in that age range.

If you are a teen, be sure to take advantage of Teen Read Week.

Sponsored by the American Library Association, the week of October 17th - 23rd boasts many great events at libraries across America. Check your local library for a list of events in your area.

And I have a special treat today. I love hearing from readers and one of my biggest fans let me know she was publishing a book. So please check out sixteen=year-old Amethyst’s first book!

Thanks again for all your support and remember to dream BIG!

* SPECIAL FEATURE *

Please welcome Amethyst Collins!

I learned to love to read at a very young age. Not long after came my interest in writing. This story is a result of my entrance to the contest National Novel Writing Month, or nanowrimo, which means the majority of this story was written in November of my sophomore year in high school. I play softball (and have in the past participated in basketball, volleyball, and cross-country) and I'm in both the concert and marching bands at school as a clarinet player. I currently live as a junior with my parents and three  younger brothers, where my other interests include acting, watching So You Think You Can Dance (among other shows), and spending time with my friends.

Book Description:

As a child, Eleazar never worried about the war. Even as he came into adulthood he was never too concerned about fighting for his planet, Theorta. But when he met Emrys, all that changed. She became his reason to live, his reason to stay. So when the war tears them apart, Eleazar does everything in his power to get back to her. But will she still love him when he returns? Enter a world where happiness and sadness fight for control over the lives of its people, and they experience emotions from both ends of the spectrum.
